I'm running a 98 Teg GS B18B, with the JRSC, and the JR BTC. I have my timing set at stock setting (16 degrees), and the BTC set at 1 degree per pound of boost. The JR instruction manual says to set the BTC to 5/10. They say it's safe to set it at that degree.
My question is what degree do you guys set your BTC to with stock timing (16 degrees). And how safe is it setting it at 4/10-6/10 on the BTC with WOT without detonation?
I live in Toronto using 94 octane, it gets cold up here.
Detonation is pinging and knocking, but i've never heard it before, does it sound loud enough to hear even if i have an apex N1 catback?

Also does the JR MAP MOD apply on the B18B cars?
PLEASE REPLY WITH YOUR INPUTS. THANKS

Detonation sounds a little like someone throwing quarters at the bottom of your car. At least that's what i heard.

Marbles rattling violently in a coffee can. Rat-tat-tat-tat....

With 94 octane and the cold air in Toronto, you will likely have much less detonation risk that the guys here living in the Southern U.S.

I'm in Albany, NY and also have had little detonation problems using 94 octane. Mostly only in July and August when temperatures where over 80 degrees F have I gotten detonation.

Make runs and play with the clicks. Run until you hear detonation and stop it immediately. Then , from there, play with the settings until you don't hear detonation anymore. An AFC would really help you as well. I'm running the 6psi pulley with 320 injectors, HO Walbro pump and a VAFC. I set my static fuel pressure to 56-58 on my Cartech and don't even use it b/c the fuel is tuned well enough with the AFC. Timing is at 14 degress with 0 clicks on the BTC with 0 detonation, not even tip in.
